If approved, the Church of Scotland would no longer be responsible for the day-to-day management of the hotel on the shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel but would retain ownership of the buildings and land. Church of Scotland's Prayer for the Middle East
The Church of Scotland is deeply concerned for all those affected by the unfolding situation in the Middle East. Following the attacks by the USA and Israel on Iran, and Iran’s response, which has brought destruction and anxiety to the wider region, we lament the onset of war in this precious part of the world and urgently pray for an immediate cessation of fighting. Stewart Gillan prays for Peace from Jerusalem
Posting from the rooftop at St George’s, praying again for peace in a time of war. This on a day of prayer and introspection during the season of Lent, the month of Ramadan, and the Fast of Esther before Purim. May our faiths help us to come together before the God of life. I reflect on the danger of ‘permanent war’ for nations, of letting it become an identity, and on the vital need for us to sustain our vision and prayers for peace and its benefits, honouring the sanctity o

Christmas messages from our Convener and Stewart Gillan
Dear Friends of St Andrew’s Jerusalem, One of the most enduring Christmas songs from the Middle East is Laylatal Milad ( On Christmas Night), which captures the meaning of this special time for us all year round: When we offer a glass of water to a thirsty person, we are in Christmas When we clothe a naked person with a gown of love, we are in Christmas When we wipe the tears from weeping eyes, we are in Christmas When we cushion a hopeless heart with love, we are in Christma

Not done yet ... Muriel's last Stepping out of the Boat blogpost
Muriel, now back in Scotland, reflects on what it means to be home. This is my last Stepping Out of the Boat blog post.
